“Firms must help menopausal workers or face being sued”

New guidance for employers was published yesterday and reported in the BBC and many other publications.

If firms fail to provide 'reasonable adjustments' and protect staff experiencing long-lasting menopausal symptoms that impact their ability to work, they could be found guilty of discrimination.

What does your workplace offer to ensure women have access to the information they need, and that managers know how to fully support them?

Menopause is a hormone deficiency. Safe, evidence-based treatment is available - HRT - but still women face barriers to accessing it, are confused by it, and struggle on at work without it.

Firms and women and men, all need to be empowered with knowledge and information about menopause including options regarding diet, lifestyle, exercise and HRT, so that women are supported to make fully informed choices about their health and wellbeing.

What is available in your workplace to support people through menopause? Does your workplace have a menopause policy? What information do you have access to? What would you like to see available that isn't already?
